Vauxhall ABS-units: we have the solution

Many people don't know that Adam Opel started out building sewing machines and bicycles. The first car was not built until 1899: more than 35 years after the founding of the Opel brand. After that, things went very well for the German brand for decades. Especially cars from the 80s and 90s still appeal to the imagination. Think for example of the Manta, GT and the Calibra. But also the 'normal' models, such as the Kadett, Astra, Corsa and Vectra are still familiar to everyone.

Although a number of model names are still used, technically things have changed. All modern cars now have an ABS system, often with ESP support. Especially the Bosch 8 ABS/ Bosch 8 ESP is a much used system within Vauxhall, think of the Corsa, Meriva and Vivaro. Although this system certainly has its problems, the cause of a malfunction does not always lie in the ECU or pump motor. Wheel sensor problems are a good example: in many cases the problem is really in the wheel sensor or in the (often magnetic) sensor ring in the wheel hub. Always check these first! If the brakes are really stuck permanently, then the ABS system is often the problem: the valves in the hydraulic part under the ECU are the cause. Luckily, revision is possible. Always send in the whole ABS unit, so ECU, hydraulic part and pump motor.
