The Bosch 8 ABS is the successor of the Bosch 5.7 that has been used since 1998. Many car manufacturers like Alfa Romeo, Citroën, BMW, Suzuki and Volkswagen use the Bosch 8 ABS-Unit. There are certain components in the unit that can fault like the pressure sensors, the hybrid connections in the HCU or the pump motor.
The ABS-unit consists of three parts, the pump-motor, the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and ECU (Electronic Control Unit). These three parts make sure that the unit is operating optimally. Would you like to just remanufacture the pump-motor or ECU?
ACtronics only accepts full ABS-Units, because our experience shows that other components in the unit can fault as well.
The pressure sensor and hybrid connections that are in the HCU are sensitive to defects. These defects are relatively common in different car makes and models. Another common problem is a faulty pump-motor. A seized pump-motor often burns out parts on the PCB, which would change the remanufacture process. The pump-motor and PCB bonds need to be replaced for the ABS-ECU to operate properly.
It is not always the ABS-unit that is faulty. Often, we see problems with the wheel-sensors, the magnetic rings or the plugs of the ABS-ECU. It is important to verify these parts before sending the ABS-Unit.
The Bosch 8 ABS can create the following faults:
