When Renault was looking for a throttle body for the 1.2 liter 8-valve petrol engines, they turned to OEM parts manufacturers Pierburg and Aisam. They developed the throttle body with type number 8712 for this purpose. Aisam has gained expertise in the past thanks to throttle bodies that they developed for Toyota. However, Pierburg is the more famous of the two. They also developed throttle bodies for Volkswagen, Vauxhall, BMW and Mitsubishi, for example.
One of the most common problems with a throttle body is contamination. The throttle body controls the ratio in the fuel-air mixture. You can imagine that over time, internal contamination occurs in this part, as a result of which the mechanism (the valve) can move less smoothly. This causes the fuel-air mixture to become out of proportion, so that the engine no longer runs smoothly. The result: various malfunctions and an engine that in many cases no longer has maximum power. In the case of this Dacia / Renault throttle body, there are two fault codes that often come up. This concerns:
- P0638 - Bank 1 throttle valve control (J338), improbable signal
- DF079 – Motorized throttle control
Have you diagnosed one of the above two error codes on a Renault with a 1.2 liter 8V petrol engine, or does the Renault engine suddenly have a lack of power? Then there is a good chance that this problem is caused by a faulty throttle body. ACTRONICS has developed a remanufacturing solution for this. The part is thoroughly cleaned and all wear parts are replaced. This way we are assured that the part is as good as new again. That is why we also give a two-year warranty on this part. Therefore, start your remanufacturing order at the top of this page. If you have any questions, our product specialists are happy to assist you. We also have a remanufacturing solution available for the successor to this throttle body (type 1233), which was also developed by Pierburg – Aisam!
