We’ve increasingly seen the P33E100 fault code presenting in Audi Q7 e-tron models. The e-tron is a plug-in hybrid variant of Audi’s successful Q7 range and it has been in production since 2015. The error code describes a fault between the charging cable and the on-board charger, responsible for converting AC current to the DC current to charge the battery pack.
After the vehicle has been charged, it will fail to start. Despite the charging cable being disconnected, a message or warning light will persist on the dashboard stating that the cable remains connected. After some time, the warning message may disappear but, in most cases, will return the next time the charger is used.
Having a specialist perform all the necessary diagnostic steps to verify that the on-board charger has developed a fault is imperative. The high voltage nature of modern hybrid and electric vehicles requires suitable training and precaution. ACTRONICS is an experienced innovator and knowledge leader within the industry, delivering new and unique remanufacturing solutions for over 20 years.
