Vauxhall P0335 Fault Code – Diagnostic Help
The P0335 fault code impacts several Vauxhall Models – the error code relates to a problem with the crankshaft position sensor and is often seen impacting Vauxhalls fitted with the Delphi Delco Multec HSFI-2.x / HDRC ECU (usually the 1.6-liter engine with engine code Z16SE).
This fault code can lead to reduced performance and even in the long run, engine failure. It's important, therefore, to diagnose quickly and carefully!
Which Vauxhall models are affected?
This fault code is often seen in the following Vauxhall models:
- Vauxhall Astra G (1998 – 2004)
- Vauxhall Combo C (2001 – 2011)
- Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 – 2006)
- Vauxhall Meriva A (2003 – 2010)
- Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 – 2002)
- Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 – 2008)
- Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 – 2005)
P0335 Fault Code: The Symptoms
The P0335 Fault Code usually presents itself along with some of these symptoms
- MIL on: The engine malfunction indicator light (MIL) lights up on the dashboard
- Starting problems: The engine starts with difficulty or not at all
- Loss of power: The engine may deliver less power while driving
- Irregular idle: The engine runs irregularly, which can lead to shocks or vibrations
- Poor acceleration: The car responds slowly to the accelerator pedal and accelerates less quickly
Tip: Often, this fault is caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor. In some cases, the fault can present intermittently. The majority of complaints refer to the lack of coil control, injector signal or idle adjustment motor. Faults can also occur with the 5-volt circuit and the accelerator pedal, throttle body and fuel pump relay.
Possible causes
This fault code is often caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor, as we mentioned, but in some cases, there are other causes.
- Problems with the wiring or connectors: Poor connections or damaged wiring can disrupt the signal from the sensor
- Fault deep within the engine control unit (ECU): A defective ECU can also be the cause of reading error code P0335
P0335 Fault Code: The Fix
If the crankshaft position sensor and the wiring connections are all in good working order, in most cases, remanufacturing the ECU is the fix. The Delphi Delco Multec HSFI-2.x ECU can be repaired to ensure that the signals from the crankshaft position sensor are processed correctly. We offer a 2-year warranty on the remanufactured part, so that you can send your customer back on the road with peace of mind.
