Symptoms of error code P0335

When error code P0335 occurs, the following symptoms may be visible:

  • MIL on: The engine malfunction indicator light (MIL) lights up on the dashboard
  • Starting problems: The engine starts with difficulty or not at all
  • Loss of power: The engine may deliver less power while driving
  • Irregular idling: The engine runs irregularly stationary, which can lead to shocks or vibrations
  • Poor acceleration: The car responds slowly to the accelerator pedal and accelerates less quickly

Tip: This problem can be caused by a defective crankshaft position sensor. In the beginning, the error can occur intermittently. Common complaints are the lack of control of the coil, the injectors and the idle adjustment motor. Defects can also occur in the 5-volt circuit and on the accelerator pedal, the throttle valve and the fuel pump relay.

Possible causes

This error code can therefore be caused by a defective crankshaft position sensor that has become defective or damaged. There may also be several other causes for the fault, including:

  • Problems with the wiring or connectors: Poor connections or damaged cables can disrupt the signal from the sensor
  • Error in the engine control unit (ECU): A defective ECU can also be the cause of reading error code P0335

Solution for error code P0335

If the crankshaft position sensor and the wiring and connectors have been found to be in good order, in many cases replacing or overhauling the ECU is the solution to the faults mentioned. The Delphi Delco Multec HSFI-2.x ECU can be repaired to ensure that the signals from the crankshaft position sensor are processed correctly.
