About Honda
In the 80's and 90's Honda was well known for it's competitive performance. The McLaren formula 1 team raced with Honda engines from 1988 and had 2 very capable drivers, Alan Prost and Ayrton Senna. The team won the constructors title 3 years in row. Honda's present in the racing world is no surprising though. Honda founder Soichiro Honda started his career as a car mechanic, he he tuned engines that were used in several races. The pinnacle of his passion for motorsport was the design of the NSX. The car was completely made of aluminium. In the back o f the car was a very potent V6 with a very special feature: VTEC. Unfortunately the company found itself in some bad weather after this introduction. It had to pull out of motor racing, The brand shifted to leisure and environmental friendly driving. The sporty models still exist (Type R), but hybrid dives are getting more important.
