Mercedes P0793: Symptoms, causes and fixes

Working on a Mercedes-Benz with fault code P0793 stored? This fault code points to a problem with the signal from the secondary pulley speed sensor (Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor Y3/9b4) within the CVT transmission. The Transmission Control Unit (TCU) depends on this sensor signal to accurately monitor transmission operation and calculate gear ratios.
