The 1.4 TFSI & 1.4 TSI engines fitted to numerous Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen models between 2007 and 2013 are known to suffer from the P0245 fault code. Also displayed as the 16629/000581 fault codes – "Solenoid Valve (A) for Boost Pressure Control (N75): Short to Ground".

The fault indicates that the N75 solenoid valve, which regulates the turbo boost pressure via a 5-volt control, is experiencing a short to earth. If the ECU detects this, more often than not, the car will enter limp mode to avoid permanent engine damage.

Symptoms and causes of this fault

Technically, the fault can be an incorrect 5-volt supply from the ECU itself, which causes the N75 control valve to inadvertently short-circuit. In use, drivers often report an irregular turbo response, loss of power and possibly the car entering limp mode. This is often indicated by the engine management light (MIL) illuminating.
